When it comes to reading books, the unlimited choices do tempt everyone. It is like the broadband services provided by various Broadband Providers. They are too alluring, but you need to make sure that they are good and worthwhile before you try one.

Among the many people that I have interacted, most people go gaga over mystery and horror novels; especially mystery. What apprehends people over reading mystery novels? It is one thing to really ponder about. Maybe it could be because we have a mind that tries to go back of the paradoxical truth. It may sound profound, but seriously it is true. There must have been various instances in our life where we have gone to the extent of finding the truth behind something.

There must have been something that has just allured us towards it that we go at any cost to find out the real meaning of it and the mystery that surrounds it. The same is the case with mystery novels. Indeed, they take us to the world of infinite secrets and mystical places that we won’t dare to go in real life. The characters that hide in the dark and the ones who are trying to pass over the dark side; these things do give goose bumps.

Among the mystery novels that has incited me to read from the day one is the novel ‘Mr X’. Written by Peter Straub who is famous for his mysterious novels that have captivated enthralling readers among various age groups. His style of writing and the way of presentation do make one stand up and take notice; especially of the characters that appear in his book. Initially we may assume these characters to be normal people like us, but as the story progress, we find out that they have different dimensions. The characters develop and go through various psychological parameters that will sometimes just make you feel gross.

It is no wonder that the great prolific writer like Stephen King has said that Straub is one of a kind of a writer in the mystery and horror department. Maybe that is why both Straub and King have co-written novels like ‘The Talisman’ and ‘Black House’. These novels are known for their uncanny mystery, fantasy and have become the recipient of many awards.

Frankly, it can be decisive why would one read mystery novels and get so engrossed in them. The major success of making a mystery novel engrossing lies in the writing and the creative capabilities of the writer. One thing is sure, writers who write mystery novels must have experienced such unforeseen forces or situations that must have made them to write down about it in their novels. Not only referring about it, some writers even take it as the main plot of their novel. Some of them must not have experienced it, but maybe thought about it during the early stages of their life.

Anyway, the concept of mystery or the non-evidence scenarios do subject our minds to the level of unconditional thinking. Mystery novels take us to the realm where it is unquestionable and beyond our level of thinking. They present situations where everything is alluring that we just want to find out the reason for it. Maybe that could be why mystery novels are the fastest selling books.

Because people get so engrossed in their day to day life, reading a mystery novel and challenging the Paradoxical truth acts as a basis of entertainment. Of course, reading novels do take time, but there is no medium where you could use your imagination to picture the events and characters.
