There are quite a few possible effects of stress, both on the body and the emotions. But what exactly are these effects, and how serious can they be? No matter how it affects you, however, stress should never be ignored or underestimated. The following are some of the leading effects and consequences of stress.

Many people today are interested in living longer and even reversing the aging process. They look for the right foods, medicines or exercise programs to accomplish this. It's very likely, however, that the real secret to staying young is reducing the amount of stress in your life. It's very likely that stress contributes to aging at least as much as our diet or the amount of exercise we get. There's no part of our bodies that stress doesn't affect, so you can imagine how this can cause us to age faster. And the other side of the coin is that the more we can control or reduce stress, the longer we can stay young. So the best way to slow down aging may be to relax and not let life stress us out.

Stress results in lack of sleeping, and that makes all problems worse, even the stress. Stress often creates insomnia, especially if you have things on your mind that are worrying you.

Sometimes it is really difficult to shut down your mind at night, making it very difficult to sleep. Stress and lack of sleep only make everything worse, so find a way to relax and get some sleep. Unfortunately, being someone who worries, quite often is a personality trait that is hard to overcome, but you need to realize that worry does nothing except make things worse.

If you're not careful, stress can have negative consequences to your career. Occasional stress at work is typical, but it can be a problem if it's too intense or frequent. Stress isn't only unpleasant, but it can impact your job performance, as it can make it harder to concentrate. Another area where stress can be harmful is with your relationships with other workers, subordinates, bosses, partners, etc. So if your job is causing you stress, it's important to look for ways to control it. Otherwise, it can become a downward spiral that can prevent you from reaching your potential, or even make you lose your job. Stress, as we've seen, can have many diverse consequences. The best thing we can do is identify which situations tend to trigger stress in ourselves, so we can look for ways to alter our reactions. If stress is a problem for you, there are many ways to effectively deal with it,
either on your own or with the right help.
