If you want everything to go well with crafting, and we know you do, then having the proper supplies and tools is important. But we know sometimes all does not proceed in a completely smooth manner. After you've made sure that everybody has the right materials (including left handed scissors for the lefties and right handed scissors for the righties); how can you make a fun time more likely? Ok... what we're going to do is give you some actionable advice to ensure everyone has a terrific time with your craft projects.
Take a breath!!! Realize that craft time is always messy. Just when you think you have everything under control it can turn into a messy situation. The mess is half the fun when crafting happens. The children will love getting to make a mess and when they are done you'll have a cherished memory. You won't have much fun if all you are doing is stressing over the little things just relax. Your behavior will be seen by your children and that will cause them to worry about making you angry with the mess which means they won't have much fun either.
You will portray more happiness to everyone around you once you decide to go with the flow regardless of the outcome.
Let the project take as much time as it needs. Kids need to do things for themselves.
This means that, often, you need to let them figure out for themselves, how to do something. If your kids are moving slow don't get involved they will figure it out even if it takes a little longer than it would if you did help. You already know how important it is for them to do the project on their own. Yes, it does take longer this way but they will be proud of themselves when they finally finish. Be patient. It will make craft time more fun for everybody.
If the kids chose the project and it didn't turn out just how you expected don't ask "what is that". Look What I made, is short for isn't this great mom! Don't guess what they have made just praise it with what a great job you did! It's a bad idea to guess that it's a bear.
Doing this can be disasterous when your child busts out in tears and says it's supposed to be grandpa! Your child will be excited when you ask them to tell you about their project and what inspired it. You will avoid hurting their feelings with this method and they'll love being able to talk about their project.
All children really like to make things and be creative, and that is why craft time for them is fun time. Kids are natural born creators and are thrilled with making anything. The problem that most parents have is that they spend most of their time worrying about things. Hopefully the tips contained in this article will help you have a better time relaxing while you make stuff with your children. Just be sure you have that valuable pair of left-handed scissors, and after that - it's all gravy.
